I asked my boss if we still had to come into work if we were in the midst of a serious hurricane or w/e, and he said yes.

Sounds like your boss is married to my boss.

I just e-mailed my staff telling them that if the storm greatly affects their area to not worry about coming to work. If the storm does hit the area, I hope the higher ups at UMD decide to close the campus.

things are pretty rough out here, i think it was only in the 50s when i left for work this morning. it's about 75 and sunny right now. i think it's "rained" maybe once a month on average since i've moved here. when it does "rain", it's less than one of those mist joints that they use at amusement parks on hot days.

i don't even know why they have weather people on the local news here

What kind of work do you do? Jesus, can I send you my resume? Tired of working for crazy money hungry bosses.

I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow and I'm a little afraid. People will probably be in there buying milk, eggs, bread and toilet paper.

if you wanted to stay home, that's cool (but don't expect to be paid unless you use a personal day)
if you wanted to brave the elements, that's cool too

now that weather isn't really a factor, i am able to work from home.

webex, skype, wlm, etc.

I'm making a run the the store to buy Sky Vodka, tonic water, beer, and some ice. I just vacume packed some steaks, pork chops, and some chicken brest in the freezer. Meat and alcohol what else does a man need. Ok, I'll keep it clean.

LOL. If your boss is only concerned about the bottom line, personal safety be damned, then it's very possible.
