I live way out here in Michigan but as a sympathetic gesture I am also stocking lots of cold beer.

Your sympathetic gesture is much appreciated. I hope you enjoy that cold beer while we face a horrible storm. MTK 08-26-2011, 11:00 PM We hit the store tonight for some necessities, funny how beer inevitably makes it's way to the cart. Picked up some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and some Guinness (shopped at Target, so only the standards available). Saw plenty of other people stocking up on beer too. NC_Skins 08-26-2011, 11:59 PM Latest tracks look not so bad for B-more, but Jersey, NY, Boston are in big trouble if Irene keeps its strength after hitting NC & us. Once it hits Morehead City tomorrow, the storm will die down for the most part. It usually does. I'm about 40-50 mins away but we'll see winds probably in 50-70 mph range. (providing it doesn't lose steam) edit: Hurricane Tracker - weather.com (http://www.weather.com/weather/hurricanecentral/tracker) Looks like it's slated to be downgraded to a Category 1 right before it hits land tomorrow. I picked up a 12 pack and a 20oz bottle and didn't even notice until the cashier pointed it out that I got Kona Brewing Co Longboard (ride the waves) and Heavy Seas. Must have been a Freudian slip type of situation. I've been a little worried about OC, MD for my parents sake but hopefully its not going to be as bad as expected there. They just got a place (a big ole double wide trailer that I mocked them for until I actually saw it and realized its pretty nice) back in November so my Mom has really been freaking out. But my Dad was down this week getting it prepped and it sounds like they've done just about everything possible so hopefully it all works out well. Also, my friend is getting married tomorrow evening in the DC area which kind of sucks for her. Today they moved the wedding up from 6pm to 1pm. Better safe than sorry and it should be fun either way. I have to drive there, so actually I guess it works out for me as far as being able to get back home to my beer supply if and when the bad weather really hits. Good luck everyone! mooby 08-27-2011, 01:37 AM I've heard the storm is expected to hit here in NOVA sometime around noon tomorrow, so I hope her wedding is indoors AMD. I am hoping as well that the landfall will slow it down some, and I'll see you guys on the other side eventually. firstdown 08-27-2011, 07:56 AM I'ts funny how when these things hit the first thing guys think of is getting more beer. I have a frig in the garage that stays very cold and full of beer. I still purchased more beer and I can't even get it into the frig because its full. Hog1 08-27-2011, 08:08 AM I have lived a long time on the Gulf Coast in one state or another and correct Hurricane terminology is important. Alcohol related products are referred to as...Provisions and considered essential survival supplies. Pretty much everything else is "Non-essential" and nice to have........ JoeRedskin 08-27-2011, 09:17 AM Well, when we were driving back Thursday, the State of NC declared a State of Emergency for 11:00 a.m., we stopped in at our favorite German beer brewery (The Weeping Radish) at 10:55 a.m. The woman in the store said it was a good thing we got there when they did because, in NC, the sale alchohol is prohibited during a State of Emergency! No alchohol as the hurricane rages past? Now that's a State of Emergency! 12thMan 08-27-2011, 10:02 AM Speaking of beer... |
