skinsfan69 02-26-2009, 10:26 AM While we are not in a "rebuilding" mode right now the Skins could be rebuilding very soon if some players don't step up, in that case we would be rebuilding our whole team and not just rebuilding our o-line, or maybe rebuilding the secondary if hall smoot and rogers all go away, thank goodness we are not rebuilding yet but rebuilding could start any day.
SWEET DREAMS GM ;)
I think we should be in rebuilding mode cause the players we currently have are not good enough for us to be a SB contending type of team. We should do what TB did IMO.

This year we cannot afford the cap hits that cutting old players would cost us. Nor do we have a new Coach/GM/Coaching Staff (well ours is a year old, but I think that makes a difference). Wait until next year, and we can start from scratch.
Daseal 02-26-2009, 10:46 AM Schneed -- I'm not ready to say a CBA won't be reached. Regardless of what you say, it would be bad business to give him that contract. What IF the CBA gets approved? You can speculate there won't be a cap, I understand the reasoning behind it -- but I'm just not as sure as you. Personally, I hope we have a cap. It's good for the game.

I am a pretty optimistic guy (see all my posts heckling the naysayers/negative ranters, LOL.) but more and more it seems as though the CBA won't be approved.

We're not in rebuilding, we're in a building mode. A few more pieces and we're there.
BigHairedAristocrat 02-26-2009, 11:11 AM It would not cripple us if there is no salary cap next year. Sheesh!
There goes another clump of my hair!
could we structure a contract so that he makes like 6 million this year, 50 million next year, 6 million in 2011, 8 million in 2012...

If the salary cap goes away it's never coming back, might as well keep the 50 mil/year salary rolling.

Thats not even close to being true. it was an idle threat by the NFLPA but it has no basis in reality. If theres not a new CBA, the owners will lock out the players in 2011. So its in the interest of both sides to work out a new agreement. players would want a salary FLOOR and the owners would not agree to that without a salary cap. the cap would most certainly come back whenever a new CBA was negotiated.

That's a big if!
There will probably be an uncapped year next year but I think a salary cap will be back at some point in the near future.
I think it's in the best interest of the Owners, Players and Game if there is a salary cap. But thats just my opinion.
MdBluefinCrab 02-26-2009, 01:26 PM Get Haynesworth and draft for the O-line. If this scenario comes to pass, we just might be able to compete in the NFC East, barring the play of Jason Campbell, but that's a whole nother subject.
