I hope Boeheim didn't call this alleged victim a liar in the press. This is exactly why child molestation victims are scared to open up. They should suspend Boeheim just for that statement alone. He needs to refer the media to the police and legal entities and talk about basketball.
Boeheim probably shouldn't have said that. But he's defending a guy who he's worked with for 30+ years. Just a gut reaction, I'm sure.
Anyway, I certainly hope these allegations aren't true. If they are, Fine will be dealt with.

I understand where Boeheim is coming from, and he very well may be accurate about this being a sham/lie. That said, I still think the university needs to reprimand and suspend him for calling a alleged victim of child molestation a liar. They have to understand they have a huge power and influence and doing stuff like he did in the press just will prevent future kids from coming forward when they do get molested. Refer the case to the police/legal authorities and move onto basketball. At least McQueary is handling it correctly in terms of saying "We have to let this play out" before he comments about the case.
The case seems whishy washy to me unless somebody else comes forward (not related). The guy's body language in the interview wasn't compelling to me.

Penn State case about to go federal?

Sounds like it. Multiple criminal activities taking place in multiple states sounds like a federal case to me. That can't be good for Sandusky.

Penn State situation will go federal because if all the allegations are true, they would have violated the Clery Act.

The other part of the quote you left out:
"I know this kid, but I never saw him in any rooms or anything," Boeheim told ESPN.
The rest of the quote you posted:
"It is a bunch of a thousand lies that he has told. You don't think it is a little funny that his cousin (relative) is coming forward?
"He supplied four names to the university that would corroborate his story. None of them did ... there is only one side to this story. He is lying."
The person who alleged these crimes is making Boeheim part of the situation. Saying flat out that the guy is lying might be a little strong, but i dont think its out of lines by any means.
I don’t think child abuse victims are hesitant to come forward because they are afraid of being called a liar by the accused, because most reasonable people assume a person accused of something so serious will deny the charges against them. They dont come forward because of the stigma we all attach to people who have been molested and the shame it causes them.
We also attach a stigma to people accused of rape, sex crimes or sexually deviant behavior in general. Our society does this regularly without conviction or prosecution (Rothlisburger), often even without evidence, details or knowledge of what someone’s even being accused of (Herman Cain), and sometimes even whens theres a lot of contradictory evidence and even proof of non-guilt (Duke). Neither you or me know if the Syracuse assistant coach did anything or not, and neither of us are passing judgment, but that’s not the case for a while lot of people or people who just see a headline and don’t look further into an allegation. People have every right to defend themselves and their name as vocally as theyd like against accusations that will forever be attached to them.
The court of public opinion skips the whole innocent until proven guilty thing and regularly makes it’s mind up off of headlines, accusations, and by associating separate incidents together. Let’s say the Syracuse accusation goes nowhere in a month, 6 months or a couple years and we don’t hear anything about it. No one is going to go look into what happened, how things played out, why the chargers wernt filed, if the allegations were baseless or any of that, but we will all remember that the associate head coach at Syracuse was accused of something like what happened at Penn State. At least now if it doesn’t go anywhere people will remember the accusers claims were very vocally disputed.
Could you imagine being wrongly accused of something like that? It has to be the worst thing to be wrongly accused of by far. It could ruin your life. The coach at Syracuse was immediately put on administrative leave, that’s how powerful these accusations are. And false reports are rarely prosecuted, even in cases where the accuser admits to making it up. In time we may find out if Bernie Fine is guilty of these accusations, however, we will likely never know if he was truly “innocent”.
Also from the article:
"At this time, all we really know is that a terrible tragedy is unfolding for both the accuser and the accused," Cantor said
