Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

Just tell the students that tuition will have to go up because of the legal fees from Paterno and Sandusky. They'll riot.

It's kind of amazing that people will still blindly pledge their allegiance to a guy like that. I figured child rape is one of those things where every non-rapist would have the same stance on the subject, but it's clear where they stand. Apparently assisting a child rapist isn't enough to harm the "legacy" of a beloved former coach. It's pathetic.

The only thing I can think as a reason is their outright denial of the evidence. It has to be something along the lines of "He didn't REALLY know". Otherwise, I can't see how you could justify defending Paterno and live with yourself.

We are talking aiding and abetting the entrapment and brutal rape of young, at-risk boys. How can you even begin to say "Yeah, but ..." to that.

I understand you don't want to punish the innocent, but I think all this just highlights exactly what Freeh was talking about at Penn State in terms of the culture. If this is our next generation of leaders, I weep for the future.

I had been wavering before, but this culture of denial and cover-up need to go. The place needs to be, metaphorically speaking, razed to the ground and rebuilt. Anyone defending the school's actions and deliberate inactions in this matter needs to be fired yesterday. Horrible. Just horrible.

The statue should be down already. Every student should be forced to read the entire Freeh report.

I really don't think it would do any good JR. When you have guys like Jay Paterno saying the Freeh report wasn't accurate and "just a opinion." Yeah, there are no new facts even though they expose his father with the emails and hand written notes. Nope. No new facts.

Also, you have board of trustee members saying "this isn't a PSU scandal or a football scandal", not sure these people will ever let go of their idol. Just listen to this assclown the PSU alumni voted in as a board of trustee.

This is the type of leadership they want at PSU? The kind where they are in constant denial and will continue to cover up. Just visit a PSU forum and it's littered with posts and threads about how the Freeh report is garbage and how Paterno should remain a icon. It's downright sickening. They've been taught this their whole life and conditioned that PSU football takes precedence over everything. Also another fun fact, Jay Paterno got quite a few votes to be a member on the board of trustees, even though he doesn't want the position nor applied.

You hit the nail on the head about why. The few PSU forums I scanned, this was the biggest factor in their denial. They think the Freeh report is bogus and inaccurate that was done by a unprofessional guy.(they mention the Waco fiasco as their reasoning) They are pointing at the media as the bad guys who are making them look bad and are blowing things out of proportion. Granted now, there are some PSU alumni and fans posting on those forums telling those guys that they are crazy and are in denial.
