Probably hanging out with Joe Walton (worst DC the Redskins ever had, worse than Haslett)

I'm pretty sure Walton was an OC

Name me an HC with more top to bottom control than Mike? Makes him more responsible for his team than any other HC. Pretty simple.

Honestly, you're amazing

Uh, I'm not so sure about that. They wanted more than just Talib. They wanted Finnegan. They wanted a big play WR. They wanted OL help (Eric Winston ring a bell?) I forget what Safeties and LBs were available in FA the past 2 years, so I can't think of any more names. EDIT: Retaining Lorenzo is another to add.

Oh supposedly Reggie Bush was on our radar.

The point is, rumor has it (since thats all you and I know right now) we wanted more than just Talib and Eddie Royal. I think Smoot can settle this with some of his ''insider expertise.''Here's the thing: no matter who they WANTED, the roster limits are exactly the same. For every player they could have acquired, someone else is not here. And 93% of this roster are made up of guys who Shanahan or someone else on the coaching staff has banged the table for as guys they had to have. Some are overpaid. Some are underpaid. They are all hand picked.

If Bush is here, Helu is not. If Talib is here, Hall is not. If Royal is here, Moss is not. Those are all arguably upgrades, but we're still moving through a difficult second season for RG3 and terrible gameday management w/o the cap penalty. The roster restrictions do not change because we have more cap space.

A player like Talib or Finnegan (although Finnegan has been awful this season) would make our defense better. No question about it. But we also wouldn't have had Hall's great games against Detroit or Dallas. And the other three games were either won, or didn't come down to a single play or player.

We'd be 1-4 either way, basically, although a bit of a better team.

Yep and Walton is the head coach at Robert Morris U. Still going. He seemed old when he was the hc for the JETS

Kinda sucks we're talking about a coaching change after 5 weeks. Didn't we do the same thing last year? Lol.

The Seahawks aren't trading for Percy Harvin or giving Brandon Browner a raise if they had a cap penalty on them. But then they also have two high draft picks with which to build their team. They would have weathered the cap penalty that we have just fine.

They also re-signed Lynch. No doubt having those extra picks helped big time. The way I look at it, we sacrificed 4 starters for 1.

One of Mike's biggest blunders has been his choice in DC.

Shanahan deserves to be able to finish the year. I still think he has to finish at the very minimum 7-9 to keep his job. No matter what happens, last year proved to me he deserves to finish the season.

One thing that we all should now about football right now as fans is that paying more for your players does not ensure you of better players.

The cap penalty took away a number of opportunities to get better. But at 1-4, the problem is that we have done a poor job taking advantage of the opportunities we get every Sunday. If your argument is really that our dealt hand was so crappy that it can not be overcome, you're probably an excuse-maker.
