Ultimately it is the players out there making the plays not the coaches. Haslett isn't telling anybody to blow open field tackles or to have neutral zone infractions. Kyle isn't causing Robert to over throw his recievers or to both handoffs to Al Mo. Could I disagree with some play calling on both sides of the ball? absolutely. But I don't see the coaches as losing the locker room as they say, rather we are playing poorly.

I agree. Overall this year our greatest failing has been a lack of intensity. Some of this problem is on the coaches.

But it is also true that NFL players are grown men who should be self-starters. It's their reputation and their next contract which is on the line when they take the field. Players should be motivated by their own pride. Therefore coaches are never entirely to blame when players lack intensity like ours have.

Really nice revisionist history. "We won seven games in spite of bad coaching and were really just lucky."

Let's get our facts straight shall we? During our run we beat the Cowboys (twice), the Giants, the Eagles (twice), the Ravens (you know, the eventual SB winners), and the Browns (with our back-up rookie QB, btw). In that run we scored 27 or more points six times and topped 30 points four times.

Had we not beaten the Cowboys (twice), they would have had a record of either 9-7 or 10-6 and would been in the play-offs had we even one lost just one to them. As to their "8-9 starters", please tell me who they were. I know S. Lee went down (a big loss), Radcliff (not so much), but, as I recall, we were playing w/out a few guys too. Outside the division, they were 5-5.

Had we not beaten the Giants (who were 7-4 to our 5-6 when we played them), they would have ended up 10-6 and in the play-offs. After playing us, their only other two losses were to the Baltimore Ravens, in Baltimore (You know, the eventual SB champs) and Atlanta in Atlanta (the NFC West Champs). Outside the division they were 6-4 (including wins over SF and GBay).

The only "gimme" games in the run were the Eagles. Cleveland wasn't good but we were down our starting QB. I seem to recall the rest of the team demonstrating a great deal of " discipline, preparedness and heart" in that game.

Have they lacked those things so far this year? Yup. However, to assert they lacked "discipline, preparedness and heart" during the run is simply ignorant, subjective, revisionist history originating from, consistent with and now used for support of your "Shanahan sucks at everything and always has" mindset.

... but, hey, every village needs an idiot. Thanks for filling an essential role here on the WP.

Yah..........So!

C'mon man. In space Helu is excellent and has that 2nd gear unlike most of our weapons. He's not a power back but to say he's terrible.

...I see way more positive out there than most of you guys and I get labeled the pessimist. What the deuce?

In light of yesterday, I owe Helu an apology. He was patient, played with burst and power. I'd love to see this consistently from him. If that becomes the norm, the 1-2-2A punch of Morris, Helu and Griffin makes our run game nearly unstoppable.

Helu is legit. I don't recall who said it, but apparently he really hit the weight room hard last offseason and it shows.

I think yesterday showed how this offense really hums when we can run the ball effectively. It opens things up for Griffin in the passing game too. With Griffin getting his legs back we have a deadly 3 headed monster in the backfield.

We can still win this division. RG3 is starting to look more to his original form.

We had a cap restriction and less picks than other teams because of the trade. We should take this into consideration when viewing the 2013 year. If we get to the playoffs this year it will be a testament to the coaching, players, and scouting departments.

No team has top players at every position. The NFL doesn't work that way. That is the beauty of the league. Next year we will get the complimentary reciever to Garcon, a quality line and secondary help.

Thank you for reiterating this. A lot of the moronic criticism we're seeing around here conveniently forgets this major detail.

Call me crazy, but I have this weird feeling that the Redskins are going to beat the Broncos and go on a huge winning streak. I just sense a huge turnaround.

if there's any better time to do it, it's this year. Did anybody see the cowboys vs eagles game yesterday? Those 2 teams look like effing garbage. Pathetic crap on the field up in Philly yesterday.
