Gmanc711 09-12-2005, 10:12 PM Many years from now we'll look back on that year when Joe Gibbs declared a young strong-armed QB his starter and proclaimed he would be the guy for years to come. Even though there's a proven veteran backing him up and the team had just drafted a QB in that spring's draft. (or was it the year before?)
And someone will ask whatever happened to those QBs.
And someone else will respond "Well that young QB with the bright future, Jay Schroeder, Gibbs didn't like what he saw so he made the unpopular decision and pulled the plug on him in what he felt was the team's best interest. He ended up with the Raiders and didn't do much. The veteran, Doug Williams, got us a ring that season. And the rookie, Mark Rypien, won one for us four years later"
I hate to do it to you TAFKAS, but ..... Doug Williams >>>>> Mark Brunell
monk81 09-12-2005, 10:13 PM [QUOTE=illdefined]did everyone forget ALL OF LAST SEASON?? everyone was BEGGING for Ramsey, and now because of a couple pre-season games, we want the disaster of last season? if that's the case then we are WORSE than Philly fans. i have never witnessed such a fan 180 as i have now with people booing Ramsey on the first game. it's shameful.
I was there yesterday and I agree 100% with your criticism of the fans. Ramsey was given about a 2 play grace period before the boos started coming down. It's rediculous. How about letting our starting QB get comfortable at home. Later the crowd even got on Brunell after yelling for him to vome in. Our offense probably prefers to play on the road at this point. I know our QB's are not very good, but it doesn't help them play better when we booh them constantly. Ramsey was booed in the first series for crying out loud...just rediculous.
I was going to ask that question Celts32....I wonder how many people here that are backing Ramsey now would admit to booing him at the game.....fans are fickle, but more than likely frustrated over 14 years of losing seasons, we started out with lots of optimism--Jansen back, new center, Rogers looks like the real deal, Lavar getting healthy, Gibbs seems to be opening up the offense, D is looking good ....and now this :(
monk81 09-12-2005, 10:24 PM Ramsey should chill a bit before demanding a trade right now. Settle down maybe he'll end up starting again. He has been in this offense for 1 year and he looks shaky at best. If he goes somewhere else he's gonna ride the pine also. I know he's full of pride but this is likely an agents demand not his own.
Good point, isn't his contract up after this year????????? He shouldn't have overreacted, but he knows he won't get any kind of deal holding a clip board on the sidelines....even if he doesn't get traded now, next year he is gone for sure........
monk81 09-12-2005, 10:29 PM Oh...but was I meant to add in my last post concerning Bradshaw...he said that he wasn't the one who felt the game had passed Joe Gibbs by and that Gibbs didn't have anything left. That is a bold face lie, concerning the fact that I remember Bradshaw saying the exact words that "this is a young man's sport and the game has passed Joe Gibbs by."
LOL.....I think Bradshaw lost more than his hair!
:laughing-
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-12-2005, 10:33 PM If Ramsey isn't really hurt, I'm quite upset about Brunell being named the starter.
Hijinx 09-12-2005, 10:38 PM I don't think the game has passed JG by but I think he isn't man enough to admit a mistake with Mark B.
SmootSmack 09-12-2005, 10:42 PM I hate to do it to you TAFKAS, but ..... Doug Williams >>>>> Mark Brunell
Well at that moment I'm not sure too many people really believed that DW was much more than a 32-year-old aging QB whose best years were quite possibly behind him.
The point is, this is not the first time that Gibbs has decided that the QB he intended to be the guy is quite simply not the guy. Not now at least. And it's one thing to say "hey I think Ramsey gives us the better option to win," but to declare the seaon disaster, call Gibbs a lying traitor, and wish death upon Brunell (not that you've done any of this Gmanc) before this all plays out...well that seems kind of silly to me.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-12-2005, 10:45 PM We're cooked. Sorry, but I cannot envision Brunell leading us to anything but mediocrity at best and disaster at worst.
SUNRA 09-12-2005, 10:52 PM Gibbs hates Ramsey, nothing could be clearer. like LadyT said, he gave Brunell the entire important part of a season to show something, which he ruined, and he gave Ramsey three drives???
i dont like this one bit, it has to be something personal and i'm really surprised at Gibbs.
Ramsey replaced Brunell on week two. Or do you want to forget Ramsey's 3 INTs against the Giants. Every opportunity Ramsey has been given, he has squandered on his lonesome. He's an erratic mediocre second string QB at best. He'll never and I mean never be a top rated QB because of inconsistency. Reminds me of Chad Pennington more and more everyday.
SmootSmack 09-12-2005, 10:53 PM We're cooked. Sorry, but I cannot envision Brunell leading us to anything but mediocrity at best and disaster at worst.
We'll have to agree to disagree then. By default, the QB is a leader. However, I t hink on this team our leaders are Portis and the defense. So long as they play well I think we'll actually be ok
