What matters is winning football games and the things that the coaches are doing now are aimed at that goal. That happens to be true of what they did last year and what the previous coaches did too. They are not out there to lose games and they are not out there to advance some other personal agenda at the expense of winning games.
i dunno SC, keeping Brunell so long while he was clearly stinking it up last season you have to attribute to personal loyalty on some level.
TheMalcolmConnection 09-14-2005, 04:45 PM OR he felt Ramsey would stink it up even worse...
illdefined 09-14-2005, 04:50 PM ..which he didn't...
mooby 09-14-2005, 04:52 PM 1 int, 2 fumbles, on 3 drives, equals ramsey demoted to backup. as much pressure was on ramsey to succeed, he didn't step up. you can look at how many yards he threw, but yards don't mean anything. brunell threw 325 yards vs. dallas last year, but check the final score. we still lost, didn't we?

Neither do TO stats, as you pointed out 2 fumbles, without pointing out we only lost 1, you also didn't point out that Ramsey was almost decapetated on the other with an illegal hit and nothing was done, you also didn't point out that Patrick had just directed a TD scoring drive only to have a phantom call by the ref take it away and put him in a position for an illegal hit, in front of the entire football watching world in which the ref's just didn't happen to catch that one!
As far as Im concerned Patrick had 1 early INT that was obviously his fault, he then started to right the ship and move the ball coverting 3 consecutive 3rd downs as he continued to drive the ball on a very good defense, it's funny how no one want's to credit Jansen with that fumble for basically missing his block and driving the LB into Ramsey and causing that fumble.

No qb in the NFL could prove anything in three drives, especially the first three drives of the year against a good defense. Even if he did good, thats not enough to prove anything. He could have had a td on every play for the rest of the game after those drives. You don't know and now you will never find out.
illdefined 09-15-2005, 11:53 AM thanks for being honest, hope there's no reason people wouldn't be. after this week, i don't think QB continuity is a major concern for coach Gibbs. and people here constantly remind us that it's not his first season, because he has 3 Super Bowl rings etc. etc.
i do consider last year his first season BACK in a new NFL, and he'll need time to adjust (as many years as he wants in my opinion). but then what still has me worried is where was his first year lesson learned??
guess only Gibbs could answer my question, and he did.
from http://washingtontimes.com/sports/20050915-120139-8826r.htm
"Gibbs wouldn't second-guess himself as some are in asking why the coach didn't make the change in the preseason to get Brunell more work.
"I don't really deal in the hindsight thing," he said. "In pro sports, you can't go back and think about the past, you have to deal with the future and base your decisions on what you think is best.""
