That's my go-to. I generally find if the scores are 95 or above, I end up loving the beer. That seems to be true whether I see the score first and then taste, or taste first and see the score later.

BA is awesome. Great beer resource. I usually salivate over what they post on Twitter.

I'm always proud of myself when I try a beer and love it, then look it up and see it's highly rated LOL. Or the other way around if I don't care for a certain beer. BA is usually pretty spot on with their reviews.

Was at a taphouse a week ago, keep drinking this 3 Brothers Brewing IPA "The Admiral"

The Admiral | Three Brothers Brewing | Harrisonburg, VA | BeerAdvocate (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/31460/94854/?ba=Camjmorton)

Really good local stuff. To be honest, in the last year Ive been leaving the national beers and just drinking the Virginia stuff. Fresher and taste just as good.

These are the Virginia Breweries Ive really been enjoying:

Three Brothers Brewery, As I mentioned above very good beer, first time trying and will be drinking more:

Three Brothers Brewing (http://threebrosbrew.com/)

I grew up down the street from this location and Im not being a homer here, but these guys probably have the best lineup, best tasting all-round of what they offer: Center of the Universe Brewery: Welcome « Center of the Universe Brewing Center of the Universe Brewing (http://cotubrewing.com/?age-verified=bf0cd5e92e)

Devil's Backbone Brewery. Discovered these guys about 5 years ago on the Virginia Wine Trail area. I was tired of drinking wine and needed a beer. These guys are solid, but their brewery and location is amazing: Devils Backbone Brewing Company (http://www.dbbrewingcompany.com/default.aspx)

Our Beers | Hardywood Park Craft Brewery (http://www.hardywood.com/beer) Hardywood Brewery has really taken over Richmond. I met the owner/brewmaster when they first open and got a personel tour with a couple friends. Their overall lineup is ok, but their Burbon DIPA Beer is simply amazing. One of the best original tasting beer all time. Their brewery is near the Skins camp in Richmond.

Blue Mountain Brewery | The Beauty of Virginia. The Bounty of Nature. The Art of Brewing. (http://www.bluemountainbrewery.com/) Blue Mountain is brewing my favorite beer right now: Full Nelson Virginia Pale Ale | Blue Mountain Brewery | Afton, VA | BeerAdvocate (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16352/39415/) Full Nelson Pale Ale, cant stop drinking it.

Out of about a dozen "microbrews" so far, a lot of NC brands, I like Hell's Belle best, so far. Like regular Killian's, but a lot tastier.

Out of the worst, Natty Greene beers taste nasty, to me. And some of the other beers have way too much tangy-ness to them. (too much hops?) Blecchhh.
