Given his injury, if we signed him we'd need someone decent backing him up, but I would think if his neck is ok, manning would want to play for more than just a couple more years.

Well in all fairness he's kind of right. Many pundits said he would have been picked first overall had he declared for the 2010 draft thinking the problems he had with accuracy were temporary. When he put together another average season his senior year thats when his stock started to slip.

2011 though no one said he was going number 1 overall. And now I'm realizing Son of Man basically said the same thing. slaps self in head *idiot idiot idiot*

He's got one great year left in him if that and that year might not even be this year. It's very possible he could go the way of Favre. Started out great with the Jets, injuries started to get the best of him he failed down the stretch. Came back with Minnesota, got a little healthier, had a career year then the following year injuries got the better of him.

Either way Mannning is a band aid with a very short shelf life. 3 years tops if everything goes perfect.

Locker wasnt considered a top ten pick, most analyst had going mid to late round, maybe even second round.

That news, if true, makes the Manning plan much more inviting. I've heard several docs (real ones, not Warpath ones) say that once you turn the corner and begin gaining strength, recovery is both rapid and permanent.

That's pretty fascinating Lotus. Nerve regeneration in general is fascinating.

...it's really, really hard not to root for Manning on at least some level IMO.
