Matt- By no way am I going to try to convince you. You love the Shanahans, want our QB running the ball, and fully endorse the stat argument that Rob is a pocket passer b/c he throws the ball more than last year.
What I find troubling is people who defend Kyle with your type interjections. We have a run game in Alfred= we don't need Robert to run. Robert running= less of Roberto's career. When Robert is hurt= the season comes to an end prematurely or he is played regardless if we have a capable backup.
Kyle runs an ineffective passing game. Every pass is a play action, idk what % but WR's line up in the backfield behind or next to rob, last Vikings game had 7+ screen passes behind the line of scrimmage. -1 yd pass attempts are not the same thing as passing downfield. But the Kyle defense will say it is b/c technically it leaves the QB's hand in a forward direction. I don't need split hairs argued to me.
Roberts #'s are up. Figuring we are in countless garbage minute games, how much of that is garbage stats?. Maybe the fact that teams would rather give up dink and dunk passes b/c they know the team has wasted 3/4th of the game running RB/QB and trail by 15pts they can afford garbage stats.
Maybe Rob is regaining yardage on yards he lost scrambling or running in the backfield.
Garçons #'s are up. Besides Reed, has anybody else caught a single pass all season? No! Well, I support Hank. The whole point I make is take away robs runs and give to Alfred or use passing downfield to receivers.
I love the offense. It's fun on my NCAA '13 game. But it's f'n insane to read people attacking opposition to Kyle with out of context stats like we are on course for wins, postseason, Super Bowl, and championships. Unless you have a different math that 3-6 is a good thing, face facts. 2012 7 game win streak is still < fantasy of Kyle having a logical system and Robert being the dream pocket passer alluded by their defense.
I think every QB on every team is able to pass more in this new era. 3 1st round draft picks ought to have bought us a QB not a RB/QB hybrid. We are trying to get RINGS not RatINGS and marketing dollars.

Even if we had a the '85 Bears defense, my complaints would be the same= let the RB run, pass the ball downfield, and play solid defense. I think we are all old enough to remember what the nfl was.

You're assuming a lot about what I think. I wish I could decipher what you're saying so I could respond a little better but you tend to be all over the place.

So basically the offense doesn't look the way you want? It's hard to argue with the bottom line though, they're top 10 in yards and points again this year. As far as wins go I'd look to the other side of the ball to figure out why we're only 3-6.

I know you don't like to hear that he's throwing more and running less as it goes against your off the wall exaggerations. I'll never understand why people like you want to force him to be a pure pocket passer when he has the crazy athletic skills that he does.

I'm sure in time the plan is to have him running less and operating out of the pocket more, as indicated by the fact his passes are up this year and runs are down, but given the fact he was rehabbing his knee all offseason they weren't able to work on developing his passing skills as much as they would have liked.

I think it comes down to why mortgage the future for a QB that really wasn't pro ready? And hoped that one day he could be a great passer. It seems like the Redskins love to give away picks through the Snyder years and it's one of the reasons we're never a contender to win a Super Bowl. I think RG3 will work his ass off to become better, but the trade has somewhat hurt the depth of the team. Hindsight is 20/20, but if we kept the picks, and drafted Wilson or Cousins to be the starter, I believe this team might be better off.

Plenty of QBs coming out of college aren't truly "pro ready".

Wasn't he rookie of the year? Just checking.

good debates in this thread, as for QB goes I don't blink an eye even today for RG3. The dude is a true "FRANCHISE" QB and u can't pass that up. As for coaching..... I'm just about ready for a change, especially if we end up below .500

Kaepernick has had an extra year and one may argue that he still is not pro ready. Wilson and Tannehill have had their struggles with moving to the pros. Even Luck has moments when you doubt his pro readiness.

Spending a boatload of picks on RGIII doesn't mean we should expect to get instant Peyton Manning.

At the end of the day growing pains are to be expected with young QBs.

I still find it amazing we spend so much time focused on the side of the ball that is actually having success.

It's a hindsight criticism. There were no inherent reasons it could not have worked. On the other hand, not even the most devoted Mike Shanahan skeptic could have predicted he would be this inept.

I think every hire is a risky hire, given that Dan Snyder has shown little aptitude to tell the difference between a good interview and a bad interview. Sumlin coaches the offense I would most like to see RG3 in.

Just saying those flavor of the month college offense genius coaches, its a risky option. How's that pistol offense doing this year? Yeah not so great.

The Shanny hire wasnt bad, about getting the house in order more than anything. Organization is in a much better place than it was before. Shanny has alot to do with that. Has it transfered to wins on the field, not exactly which is disappointing. Like I said before, i dont really care if he stays or goes. I just dont want a knee jerk hire which sets us back...and like you said before, this team is not that far off which I believe is true.
