The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

I think we need a national law which mandates debates during elections. Agree to have them in neutral, unsponsored places with non partisan moderators.

Hiding from your positions is pathetic and you are unfit for office if you cannot defend them

Non-partisan doesn't exist anymore.

Each debate should have 2 moderators, 1 from each side, that ask an equal number of questions to both candidates.

Problem is all common human decency is out the window with the debates. Nobody respects or listens to the moderators or their fellow opponent. Nobody actually answers the questions directly. Everyone has an agenda and just wants to rile up their base with sound bites.

Really tired of the political hit job ads where every candidate is made out to be the devil incarnate. Can we all just fucking grow up already?

Definitely frustrating. 95% of all political ads are about how bad the opposing candidate is and 5% are about what they actually might try to do.

In this day and age I am not even sure what the relevance of a debate is. It is so easy to find where a candidate stands on an issue and what their platform is and unlike the 60s over 95% of the u.S. population can now read.

Well you should have to defend position and why they stand for something.

It’s relevant, people deserve explanations and it’s important to hear it from the person’s mouth for accountability.

Things written…no. Unfortunately they can be edited or the person can simply say…I’ve never said that or said I’ve stood for that.

Debates should mandatory across the board

I think both in Georgia and Utah, it’s gets testy but it’s been fine overall

If tv is so important to you and other Americans then why not have mandatory interviews? RNC chooses one interviewer and DNC another?

A debate is designed to sway an audience or a panel that their view is correct. Can you honestly say anyone watching these debates says they have changed their mind who they are voting for?

I think debates are more helpful for deciding which candidate in your own party you want to be the nominee for that party.

Once it gets to right vs. left, I don't think it very much matters anymore. Our heels are dug-in long before any debates there happen.

Yeah I think so. Just look at G1, he’s an independent
