Dirtbag59 09-04-2008, 01:01 AM Hey I agree with most of this. It just seems like there are many Americans who are forgotten and that is straight up un American. IMO.
Agreed, though I hate having all these critism's for the current proposal and not having my own solution. In fact the best I can come up with is an abstract hollywood/France reference involving Tina Fey, Paris Hilton, and Alizee. Of course given my previous post it's obvious that people now know where I stand on the current national health care proposal, but hopefully it gets to the point where the only people that don't have quality health care are true felons (not our friends that got busted for a bag of Pot) and drunk angry Eagle fans.
wilsowilso 09-04-2008, 01:04 AM I think I'm done arguing with Redskin fans for tonight. It's always good to fight for what you believe in and as we all know the US is so unique in history because we all have this right. In fact it is encouraged.
The Goat 09-04-2008, 01:10 AM So if your going to make this post I guess its public and you will give the full name of the cousin fired?
Sure, let me get his home address, phone #, SSN, and a recent photo cause God knows if I didn't provide it then everyone would know it didn't happen.
Never ceases to amaze me how the bullshit we hear all election season starts to rub off on us. (I'd sleep through November if it weren't for football)

If your story can't be substantiated it makes it harder to authenticate it's truthiness.
FRPLG 09-04-2008, 01:23 AM Wow the last time I checked the US population was just over 300 million but if that makes people somehow sleep better at night. What kind of country are we? 40 million people don't count all that much?
when 10 million are illegal immigrants and another 17 million have the resources to insure themselves yet choose not to the number really starts dropping. also consider that accoridng to the CBO 45% of the uninsured will be insured within the next 4 months then the hyperbolic 40-50 million everyone states starts looking a little less dramatic.
saden1 09-04-2008, 01:25 AM Funny, me as a Republican can start a thread about Obama's speach and how he did a great job but you cannot even admit that Sarah had a great speech. I guess its the hate that the Dems show.
I watched her entire speech, best line was I sold the state owned plane on e-bay. I have heard everything else she said before. It simple wasn't new to me and it certainly didn't excite me. Simply saying she's a good speaker and didn't fuck up the speech isn't a compliment. It's expected, unfortunately we have Bush and McCain to thank for the low expectation in that department.
What did she say in her speech that got you excited? Hopeful things will get steered in the right direction? That she will be a capable VP?

How? Do you have a link?
JWsleep 09-04-2008, 02:15 AM Palin spoke well, and I think her style will appeal to many in small town America. She went up on the big stage and and hit it right.
But what did she say about what the Republicans are going to do? Yeah, we know, they can attack the other side's character and yell about the media. And scare people with talk of terrorists and higher taxes. But what is their alternative? Maybe McCain will get to some of that--it would be helpful. Maybe we could actually have a policy debate in this country! (Dream on, I know...)
The other thing that was interesting to me was the idea that McCain/Palin is the ticket of change. Wait, didn't this party hold the White House for the last eight years and the Congress for 6? And what, exactly, are they going to do to make this change happen? Promote some new legislation about how the government works? Restrict lobbyists?
We've had 8 years of republican rule--they've cut the taxes and gutted the regulations and gone to war to make us safer and so on. Is McCain proposing more of the same? If not, he needs to make that clear. if yes, then he needs to stop trumpeting the idea of change.
As for Palin, here's one thing she did do: she made Senator McCain look OLD. And he is not going to give a better speech than she did. He's going to fall flat, I'm afraid.

I agree the speech was excellent and to some extent it might have set the bar to high for good ol John McCain. However as weird as it may sound, it seems like it was more important for Palin to make a statement during this convention then McCain due to the recent tabloid exposure and the fact that a few weeks ago no one knew who she was (much respect to Obama for saying that families are off limits).
One things for sure though, this election is going to get a lot dirtier from this point forward and the Palin speech is not going to look nearly as good (it'll still be a great speech) when the head honcho's of the Democratic party get a chance to respond.
However to me all this convention stuff is bullshit. Yeah theres some great stories and a host of well written speeches, but it's scripted and on top of that theres no one to counter on the points they made (same thing with the democratic convention).
Thats why, as with any issue, I want to see the debates and from there I'll judge the canidates based on what I see. However if Obama's health and spending plans are what I think they are then my ticket will be pretty much be decided.
NM Redskin 09-04-2008, 04:25 AM I thought her speech was poor. I was hoping for a fresh perspective and her addressing her lack of experience. She was like a republican robot, politics as usual.
