GTripp0012 09-11-2008, 11:37 PM The term "Elected" should be used loosely, at least in 2000.Complaining about the results of the 2000 election has to be the politics equivlent of lambasting the officials for correctly ruling a poorly worded rule in football. It's so insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but people just harp on it incessantly.
And this is coming from someone who thinks Gore-Lieberman was the strongest ticket for the Democrats in the last 30 years.
GTripp0012 09-11-2008, 11:41 PM Well, National Security is the reason most politicians would give. I don't buy it though.
Really, I don't have many worthy ideas -- most just seem too conspiratorial (i.e.: defense contracts, etc.). So, it's hard for me to see to, but I think self-interest is the most likely motive.Yeah, but...
That's why I don't see it. The reasons that would support your theory are far-fetched. Possible for sure, given the rarity of info surrounding the decisions we made, but too far-fetched for my blood.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-12-2008, 12:25 AM Let me first say that I am an Obama supporter and I disagree with many of Palin's socio-political views. However, I must say I am somewhat troubled by the nature and volume of attacks on her lately. She got flak for having a young baby and running for VP when no new father would ever be questioned for running for VP. She has gotten tremendous flak for her lack of experience when she has as much experience as a Governor as Edwards did as a Senator when he ran in 2004. She is ridiculed for her lack of foreign policy experience when Obama's foreign policy experience is equally scant. I feel like a feminist right now, but I can't help but wonder if she is drawing more than her fair share of criticism because of her gender and not because of her politics.
Saden, this is in no way directed at you. I'm responding to the flood of stories I've been reading on cnn.com, politico.com, etc. and the nature of the television press coverage. Dems are acting like the press is fawning all over her while I feel quite the opposite. She's getting a TON of coverage and is being called the GOP's new rock star, but she's getting hit with a lot of criticism that isn't being leveled at her male counterparts.

Sorry but the corruption of that election is still sickening and I don't think it should be forgotten anytime soon.

I think that Gore had plenty of other opportunities before Florida to win, but he ran an awful campaign (like Rudy G. this year) costing him a few easy states here and there.
Also, the Democrats were so gung-ho that they were ripped off and would easily win in 2004, but that was far from what happened.
In fact, I believe that a major reason for them losing in 2004 was that they seemed to run on a "we wuz robbed" platform and it turned plenty of people off.

I know, it still doesn't excuse some of the super shady BS that went on.
Back on topic...Sarah "The Robot" Palin did her first national interview today...she done did good if cluelessness is the objective.

Wow! She almost sounds like Karen, who is Plankton's wife from Spongebob SquarePants.
Plankton is hilarious, he should be McCain's VP, he's already got experience working with the red button
