How is that really different from what BP did? This is real world work, you don't just snap your fingers and the next step occurs, each one requires coordination and parts and manpower. I believe Obama and BP both have said they were working on all these options simultaneously.
I agree his plan sounds like their plan. Maybe he was joking. We all know Obama has been on this from day one because he and everyone in his administration is now saying so every chance they get. Here is an example of a reporter asking Obama a question.

Reporter: Obama will you provide any emergency relief to the fishermen.

Obam: I'm glad you asked that questions because we have been here sense day one.

Reporter: But what about the releif.

Obama: The American people can be relieved to know we have been here from day one. Next question.

Ok, I didn't get SS84's sarcasm, sorry. But again, I think the spare BOP was on loan to China, and they put it on a boat back to the gulf. Unfortunately it was not allowed through the canal, since we don't control it any more, so it is currently on the slow boat from China at the bottom of the earth.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. What i was trying to say is that all of those steps should have been completed ASAP. Each attempt has been like 2 weeks apart.

They could have tried all these options in like 2 weeks. 5 weeks is way too long to all of a sudden get a sense of urgency. They should have tried fixing it much, much sooner.

Man I have said it before, we as a human race do not have the technology to stop this. Prayer is needed. Everybody complaining they want the president to come down to the gulf and hold their hands. No one is dying. They weren't calling the president when the profits were rolling in. They made the choice. As always, a corporation choose profits (your little divine stock market) over the beauty god created in the gulf. Corporation and free market thinkers alike believe in profits first, the rest be damned. This time we bit it for their profit. It's sad!!!

Well if I'm correct they had to build those domes from scratch and thats wht took so long. Don't worry because Obama has been there sense day one.

ok, but the point is that each one has been implemented as quickly as possible. According to BP and Obama, they aren't doing this sequentially, but in parallel. as an option is ready to try they try it. so if your sequence was serious, then despite your good intentions, your outcome would be just like BP's.

Look at it another way:
your engine develops a problem, there are 4 kind of possible ways to temporarily fix it, and one known permanent solution (order a new engine). You don't know that any of the 4 will work but the engine will take a month, so day 1 you order what you need for all 4 solutions. Your best guess you order FEDEX priority overnight, the next 2 you order UPS next day, and the final one Snail mail. As soon as you get the FEDEX, you try the repair it fails, so you have to wait. Later on, UPS shows up with one package, the other from California was delayed, but you try the second repair, it fails. Now you have to wait again for the parts for the 3rd way. You try it, it fails. Now you have to wait 3 days for the 4th solution. Maybe you could have done something differently, but most likely you did the best possible options given the availability of the required parts.
