For all the reporting and columns written about how Cousins has all of this leverage (and he still does, don't get me wrong), what was assumed is that the only trade partner the Redskins had was San Francisco. Therefore, even if they wanted to trade him, San Fran would dictate trade compensation. But seeing how other teams (even though they are nameless right now) have been rumored to be in the mix, and Cleveland being named (although I think it's merely a rumor to force Cousins' hand), I think we're starting to see some leverage go toward the Redskins.

Kirk cleared the air, the front office wants him, so this will get done.

Honestly, I don't expect this deal to get done until July, as this is how these types of situations work out. It'd be nice if the deal got done before, but as Andrew Brandt says: deadlines spurn action.

What I meant about changing my mind about Kirk, was that I thought he had this attitude that he wanted to leave the team because he did not feel wanted and whatnot.

It sounds like this "wanting to leave" may have been overblown or it may have been a negotiation tactic from his camp. Who knows, but it looks like things are somewhat normal and they are just doing the typical negotiations.

In the end, I don't see what's so terrible about the team moving forward. I feel that with some of the acquisitions we've gotten and getting Kirk back under center, I expect us to be competitive again in the upcoming season.

There are some players in the league who are adamant about not wanting to play for certain teams. There's nothing to stop Cousins from saying he doesn't want to play for Washington. I don't think him stating such would hinder his leverage. The fact that he came out and denied that he demanded a trade and still spoke favorable with his relationship with the Redskins tells me that he just wants a long term contract. If it's the Redskins, fine, if it's the 49ers, fine. If it's the Browns......damn!!!! LOL!
