metalskins 03-15-2017, 03:28 PM Kirk is losing some fan base with his stubborn ways of not committing to this team. When asked by Adam S. "Do you want to be a redskin long term? " he said "I don't know the answer to that, I have to keep an open mind because things change in this league fast"... Dude just answer yes or no! He's like that one GF that just can't decide on what she wants to do with her life.. I like Kirk but man this gets old.

If he answered that he would lose all of his leverage in contract negotiations, so Kirk answered exactly the way he should have.

Not me! I feel strongly both ways.
Schneed10 03-15-2017, 03:48 PM Who were the three teams??? We all know San Fran but who were the other two?
Nobody has said.
Ruhskins 03-15-2017, 03:53 PM For people that are freaking out about these types of negotiations, take a look a the negotiation history between Von Miller and the Broncos last year. It went right down to the wire, but the deal got done. There was a bit of drama (there was the whole "Von Miller cropping Elway out of one of his pics on Instagram" episode), some details about the negotiation leaked to the media, and there was a lot of back and forth.
Sure it'd be great if the deal got done right away, but like most of these types of negotiations, I think it will go right up until July.

He's just being honest. Shouldn't we be more frustrated with the team not committing to him?
CRedskinsRule 03-15-2017, 04:13 PM I am glad that KC straightened out his position. I think he plays this year on the FT unless the Skins do a record setting deal, and maybe they will. His most telling part to me was his desire to see what he is worth as a free agent. I think had the Skins let him negotiate with teams under the non-exclusive tag he would have felt that he was getting market value, but by making it exclusive he knows it sets him up for a 1 year 33 million price next year, at that point he will have played for 77million over three years. Any long term deal has to match that structure (25m apy). I got the feeling he is more than willing to play by the FT rules until the Skins let him see his market value or pay him over what he thinks the market would pay him since he can't.prove it because the Skins didn't let him. For percentages
Before draft
55% trade
20% LTD
25% FT
After draft
60% FT
30% LTD
10% Trade

I really don't understand why the Skins haven't put a decent offer out there for him. Put the ball in his court, make KC explain why he's not signing a fair deal. Give him a good guarantee 22-24M with escalators that allow him to be the highest paid QB in the league, if he earns it.
metalskins 03-15-2017, 04:18 PM Are people really freaking out over this? I haven't really noticed any behavior on here that would lead me to believe people are freaking out per se. I think the largely shared sentiment is that people are just tired of hearing about it. Trade the man. Get it over with. Sign the man. Get it over with. Either way, we're just done. I know all about the deals are done in the 11th hour (so to speak) and that's just the way it works. That's great. But as Redskins fans, we want to look forward to the next season and feel good about our team and support Kirk Cousins, or we want the band-aid pulled off so we have time to mentally prepare ourselves for what could be a not so great season with a backup quarterback. I think that's pretty reasonable and logical to consider.
That being said, I have all the confidence in the world that Cousins signs a long term deal with the Redskins. All the business stuff aside, he's still a competitor and I'm sure he wants to be somewhere where he has the best chance at the post season and a Super Bowl. Between the 49ers and Browns right now, the Redskins clearly are much further ahead.

Point Blank yes.
KC is going down the path the team said they wanted to go in relation to the FT. He hasn't done a Josh Norman and refused to sign. As Bruce Allen said, it really is simple, and if they wanted it done, they would put an offer on the table that is comparable to the guarantees they are giving him by using the FT.
At the same token 44M for up to 36 games, is a hell of a lot of money, and it does boggle the mind that he would not sign for even more guaranteed if it were in front of him.

Yes I am at both sides.
