KI Skins Fan 07-14-2017, 07:09 AM One thing though: we all act as if we're 100% sure KC's gone if they don't sign him before Monday...
But maybe the Skins actually are ready to use the transition tag next year, and match any offer that would be made...
That would be pretty stupid, but they could be considering it a way to be sure they don't overpay him, because the price would be set by other teams...
I say that while being pretty confident a deal will get done, just trying to have a little more moderate view of the situation.
BUT PLEAAAAASE SIIIIGN HIIIIM !!! AAARRRG !
The only stupid thing the Redskins might do that is going too far, even for them, might be letting Kirk go without getting anything in return. They have already screwed up this deal seven ways to Sunday. Whatever else they do by the deadline, if anything, won't surprise me. This has been the kind of cluster **** that only a Dan Snyder led NFL franchise could produce.
skinsfan69 07-14-2017, 08:57 AM I truly believe that if KC had played better down the stretch last year, he'd have a LTD. Yes the Redskins have fucked this up and the blame lies with them IMO. But KC didn't do himself any favors by playing bad against Carolina, and ending the season with a terrible back breaking pick. Oh well, at least we have him for another year. Hopefully he has a monster year.
KI Skins Fan 07-14-2017, 09:03 AM That's where I am. And ill just have to watch all games on mute with country music playing so don't have to hear about it every game
Songs like "Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through the Goal Posts of Life" would be very appropriate, IMO.

O shit, that's so funny.

You know who was bad in both those games ? The whole damn offense! Even Trent Williams wasn't good against the Giants!
Defense sucked (as always last year), but they did made some key stops against the Giants, gave the offense a chance. KC had a bad game, but so did 10 guys around him...
QBs have bad games, so does everyone. To think that a couple of off games are working against him for a long term deal right now is just silly. His overall resume is what matters.
rocnrik 07-14-2017, 10:24 AM Cousins W/L is .464, Jay Cutler .489, Stafford .455,Sanchez .526, Derek Anderson .426 ..all the stat stuff don't mean jack..window dressing is all. what matters is winning games and with that in mind he is mid pack in the NFL..

true to a point . . . but one of the check boxes are for how a player does in clutch situations, or big games . . . and cousins has not shown that his is a clutch performer . . . he doesn't rise to the occasion . . . and IMO, that is a big part of the contract, so yes, that definitely weighs on the front office' minds

I don't blame the Skins FO (yet). I think you can justify each step up until the FT deadline this year. They could have put up a market based offer and maybe KC signs. I do believe that window got effed up based on the SM debacle and once the FT got placed they were stuck into this window. The only bad outcome next year is an offered contract that they can't match for some reason.
I do think up until SMs firing KC was playing the wounded victim and milking the option of the FT. In fact his willingness to play on it is a symptom of how much protection qb's get. If KC thought for a minute he would take a career ending hit he would aign the Skins long term offer in a split second.

Very legit concern imo...
If Cousins had willed the team into the playoffs again, the deal would be done. I think us not making the playoffs supported higher ups attitudes of this "guy is a .500 QB. And why are we paying him 25 per?"
Good point.
