sdskinsfan2001 07-17-2017, 08:24 PM I dont mind Allen releasing that at all. If he didn't everyone would just assume the team was the problem. Why should the franchise have to take all the heat? Cousins thinks he is way better than he is. Just because the market is going up doesn't mean you have to fold like a lawn chair. He isn't even worth what he was offered based on talent, let alone even more. Let him go to San Francisco. Give us a 3rd rounder to get a years headstart. Paying him 24 million this year to screw us into giving away the farm next year or forcing us to let him go for nothing is no good. We're getting used.
sdskinsfan2001 07-17-2017, 08:26 PM And Cousins being better than what we've had recently is not a reason to pay him more than he's worth. Considering what we've had recently is a turd bowl mixed with a bowl of dicks.
ethat001 07-17-2017, 09:00 PM Dumb move by Bruce Allen. There was a low chance KC would ever sign here, but now it's zero. That letter feels like when Scott McC was kicked out --> we tend to kick franchise personalities out and then smear their names. Sure, Bruce offered $53, but would've taken much higher guaranteed $$ to keep him -- so the letter is just dumb.
I think we all know Bruce screwed it up last year when he could've had him for $20, but now we only have a 1-2 year QB rental. Regardless, a $25 mil/year for an above average QB would've crippled us, so I'm not completely upset. But we need to start looking long-term replacements.
Had hope we'd be good / playoff team for the next 5-10 years, but now I think our maximum is a Houston.

You're talking like the scorned ex here. If we had offered Kirk market rate initially this discussion wouldn't even exist. Ya'll are acting like Kirk asked for 30 mil a year fully guaranteed.
FlyerSkin 07-17-2017, 09:11 PM Can't blame the Skins at all, but they have themselves to blame for losing Kirk. Draft the kid out of Wyoming if you can and move on. Sudfeld has promise, but still is a project for now. I wonder if the Skins will start Sudfeld, bench Kirk, and be done with it. We can't Suck for Luck, but we can get the kid from USC or Wyoming(just kidding). I would laugh my ass off if they started Sudfeld and he actually lit it up!!!!!!!!!! Anything is possible at this point. At this point you just have to come to the conclusion that Kirk simply wants to leave the zoo, while the FO doesn't think the guy is worth getting into the possible salary cap red zone for. The FO messed up and Cousins played his hand wonderfully.
FlyerSkin 07-17-2017, 09:22 PM i am hoping the market crashes, snyder loses a billion, and has to sell the team, hopefully to warren buffett.my grandson hopefully sees the skins win a superbowl, but i will never see them win their 4th.
It stinks we don't get our franchise QB, but then again he might not have been either. The guy was great in between the 20s like people say, but couldn't punch it in if the moved the ball within the red zone. Hell, JC was much better in the red zone than Kirk. The ending to the 2016 season was the exact opposite of what happened in 2015, and that didn't help Kirk's case for the big bucks. But I suspect that he wanted to leave all along and unless the FO offered him insane over the top of what Carr got $$$$$$, he was going to turn it down. A poster from NFL.com said it best a few days ago, Skins fans are in a bad way as we basically have to hope the Skins suck for us to retain him. Not sure that is what we as fans want. Better to just let him go and move on.
ethat001 07-17-2017, 09:31 PM Not to mention the team may blow up if KC leaves. Pryor may leave given no QB, and if we suck w/o Cousins - Gruden will have had a lukewarm 5-6 years and may be forced out as well. Put that together with a bunch of one year FA's this year --> we could be looking a lot different in two years..

If that happens I will step back from the Skins and the NFL in general. I won't drop the team or the NFL totally of course, but the roller coaster that is the Snyder owned Skins, well the ride is getting rather dated. Skins fans need to WTFU and start boycotting going to games, buying crap, etc. The Lions fans did it and the ownership took notice. They aren't winning any SBs in the near future, but at least they seem to have a plan and are at least trying to build a winner. A potential blowup with a new QB, a new HC, and of course a new system just means starting over from scratch again, which seems to be Dan's formula for keeping things interesting. People need to quit drinking the Kool Aid if your scenario becomes a reality. It is just getting old and leaves a stale taste in one's mouth.

He says its not all about the money, we offer him a fortune, he says no. Doesn't matter what happened initially, he was recently offered a more than fair contract and he said no. So he's either full of shit and/or doesn't want to play here. He's not good enough to be worth the headache. It's going to be another year of this shit and what will change? Clearly the ship of reasonableness has sailed on both sides. Time to move on.
rocnrik 07-17-2017, 10:23 PM Guys ...The Ravens won a super bowl with Trent Dilfer! need I say more.
