More details about Carr's deal:

Carr's deal -- to include a $70M injury guarantee, $40M fully guaranteed

That is the key number. I don't expect Kirk to accept any less than that.

I hope the league is getting a full grasp of this because the salary cap needs to keep going up.
I realize they have been nudging it for a few years now but Holy Fuckballs Batman!

If you believe Bruce, or Doug Williams, or whoever you choose, the offer has been made to Cousins earlier this offseason, and from all we are being told it is the same deal that we knew about, 20 million a year guaranteed, with incentives that could pay him around 22 million a year if all incentives are reached. That is why i still don't believe he will sign for that, unless the Redskins submit a new offer in wake of the Carr / Stafford contract.

I agree with the other posters who stated that if no deal gets done by July 17, then Bruce should go. And what about Cousins allegedly stating earlier in the offseason that he would never sign a LTD here as long as Allen was still around? Have they mended fences?

I believe the right contract offer (from Kirk's perspective) will mend the fence. In all seriousness, if they truly want him around long term, they will make sure he gets the contract he wants. I just hope it happens soon, I'm tired of this soap opera.

Carr has also already had a major injury in his young career. I think you went three fars too far in comparing the two. Also, at the money we're talking about here, these two QB's had better not be prospects. They need to be stars.

if you think that the top 12th to 15th ranked QB is all Cousins will ever be, NO WAY you give him the contract he wants . . . if you give him a huge contract you are banking on what you think he'll become still . . .that is still about what his prospects are

Yeah he(Kirk) played the entire season, but is he worth it? If Carr doesn't get hurt the Raiders were playoff bound. Kirk kept us out of the playoffs. I want Kirk signed, but I do understand the apprehension in the FO.

I think this should give the Redskins comfort in giving Cousins the money he deserves. Before this Carr deal they had to feel like they were stepping out on a bit of a limb, giving Cousins so much would have made them feel like they were above the market for him.

But this shows that the market is going to keep increasing for quality QBs, as long as there are so few quality QBs in the NFL.

If I'm the Redskins brass today I'm feeling more comfortable. Yeah Kirk will be expensive, but other QBs are going to get paid too. They're not going to find themselves at a cap disadvantage compared to other teams - other QBs are going to get theirs too.

You gotta be kidding me!!!? Unless the NFL increases the cap considerably before the season starts, the FO is sweating bullets if they indeed do want to keep him. A Qb that hasn't won a playoff game wants to be the highest paid QB in the league? If he matches what Carr wants that will be fine, but what if he goes nuts and goes way beyond the Carr deal? If the cap doesn't go up the Skins have to jettison some decent players in the not too distant future and we will really never turn the corner. Is Kirk worth that? I am not so sure. I do like him and want him signed, but damn he wants to be paid more than Brady or Brees? The only saving grace is that the '18 QB crop is stacked if he does indeed go too high, which would tell me he wants to leave..

40 mil guaranteed... He is guaranteed 24 and 32 for a total of 56 mil the next two years under the franchise tag. That money spread across three years, just in guaranteed cash is not bad at all. Even if we went to 70 mil fully guaranteed (not injury), its the cost to keep a QB these days. do the damn deal and get the talking heads to move onto the next
