Nothing to do with Wolves, but let's sign him to a fatty.
He is the interior anchor.
I love Payne too, but JA is the glue to our front 4, imo. Gotta have him.
Summo 07-25-2021, 08:31 AM I think Knickerbocker came to mean a an old time New Yorker who could trace his roots to the original Dutch.
It also inspired a beer that my uncle used to drink back in the day.

Years ago I worked for James Dolan at Cablevision (a cable company his father Charles Dolan founded, who is the brother of Larry Dolan, owner of the Indians, fun fact) here on Long Island and when he first bought the team he bought all his VP's at Cablevision "Knickers" style pants to celebrate as that was how he interpreted the name, lol

My uncle was inspired to drink any brand of beer. Any time. Any day. :D
JackLord 07-25-2021, 05:01 PM This, I think at this point, on top of wanting to make it right, they are taking time so most people will accept that Redskins is gone, then actually start wanting a new name, and most of them will be glad one is finally picked, even if they're not fans of the final choice. I think Jason's team is being very smart with the whole process AND how they communicate about it.
Any Redwolves/Wolves option has my clear cut preference, and I think pleasing a vast majority of the fan base would be smart marketing choice, so there are reasons to be hopeful IMO.
Redwolves has an edge as it comes to connecting to the past, (ie keeping HTTR and the fight song, and simply having part of the former name in the new one), and Redwolves are actually originally from the area (ok not only from DC, but which animal comes from only one city ?).
Wolves has an edge as it's more simple, and some people hate the former but are ok with the later. Wolves of Washington just sounds good, the W stands for both.
Good with both.
Your statement is impressive for its logic and brevity.
Sign me up for Redwolves. HTTR.
irish 07-26-2021, 06:38 AM I'd rather have Cleveland Baseball Club or Team over Guardians... CORNY
Agree. This stupid name makes Washington Football Club look even better.

WFT wants nothing to do with anything that could be remotely related to Redskins and as tenuous as Redwolves sounds, trolls will find a way to make something bad out of using "red" in the name. That's why WFT wont choose it or anything with "red" in the name. They might pick Wolves but it wont be Redwolves. And the days of singing HTTR, in whatever form, are over. The connection to the past will be through the colors, not the name.

What's clear is they're gonna stay clear of any NA reference, and for sure they're gonna be cautious with past connections... but he also said in the same brief (https://www.washingtonfootball.com/news/presidents-brief-moving-foward-washington-football) "Though I wasn't here for the rescinding of the name, I believe it was done with faith that the connective ties of this fan base run deep and that the deeply loved traditions and positive aspects of our identity can be preserved and even enhanced under a new name that does not offend any member of our community."
So I wouldn't be so sure any "Red" name option is 100% out.

We have given up enough to the trolls.
If the trolls start hollering about Redwolves, get an official out to the mikes- someone NOT named Snyder- and politely, but firmly tell them they are being ridiculous. Post a few pictures of an actual red wolf to make the point. Then declare case closed and move on.
We have already capitulated to mass hysteria. It is long past time to cease being the court jesters and run a football team.

This is precisely what they don't want to do. They aren't taking two years to come up up with a new name to have to explain how its not related to the old name.

That's where keeping the colors comes in. Do I think a "red" name is 100% out, no. I think it about 95% out.
