Sorry didn't notice you are from the UK. DMV is short for DC, Maryland, Virginia. The Washington Metro area is sometimes referred to as the DMV.
I knew that, but its the first thing that comes up in a Google search 😁

Yea .. Just WASHINGTON !!! No need to refer to team or football team .. just put the W on the helmet and go with that .. it’s kind of a statement to all those who are offended anyways ...😀

I like Washington Football Team but it is weird to use in conversation. "Washington" is too generic.
I'm going to watch the Washington game is not specific enough. That can mean any number of things.
I'm going to watch The Football Team game sounds like you're trolling people.
And Washington Football Team is just too long to say in conversation.
Now, is that enough reason to not keep it? I don't know. Depends on what the final choice is imo.
I like Washington Wolves. We can still use the W we all seem to like and it's not trying too hard to basically keep the same name. And it comes off the tongue easily.

They ain't changing the name folks, it's going to be WFT going forward..
Not sure about that. The fact Jason Wright detailed the renaming process (https://www.washingtonfootball.com/news/washington-football-team-president-jason-wright-weekly-brief-9-30) and explained why it'll take time makes me believe him when he says WFT is about wisely not rushing things and making sure to pick a name that can last over a century.
Now, of course there's a chance it stays WFT, but that's far from a lock IMO.

Agreed and there's also the publicity and financial benefits of changing it. Merchandising etc. I wouldn't be surprised that this year has seen a dip, if only comparative, in merchandise sales. And relaunching the team name on the back of the current surge on the field can't be underestimated.

Matty can we get a new poll? WFT vs. Redwolves as those two seem to be the front runners.

Interesting read. Can't help thinking in 10 years time the fuss will have died down to a murmur. But for me we need a new nickname to Bury Redskins and move on,.

...and I guess we won't notice when we play the Cowboys (unless they're forced to change their name too.)
