Well damn I missed the party. Missouri got fired up huh? Must of been having a bad day. You don’t go ballistic like that over a post. Anyway.
Im with CRed - Ill support whatever they call themselves.
There are definitely Indigenous Americans who liked the name. There are definitely those who did not.
But I am completely over it, and it is time to move on. Why? Because its the name of a fuckin sports team for God’s sake not a life or death situation.

That’s really what a lot of this boils down to. 20 years ago maybe I’d be more fired up about the name change. Now I’m like eh, ok, I’ve got bigger things to concern myself with. Life is tough enough as it is, got to go with the flow when you can and pick your battles. Some things aren’t worth the stress.

I actually know all the Native American's, don't let the fake news media trick you into thinking any of them hated the name.

Yep, I understand why some like it, but there is no way they're sticking with WFT. Jason and his team would look so lame after talking up the renaming process and bragging about the trillions of fans inputs they received for 2 years, if in the end they stuck with the temporary name found in 2 weeks.

Envoyé de mon SHV48 en utilisant TapatalkAt this point I kind of feel like they will look lame no matter their choice. Unless the whole roll out is without a hitch (no roller derby team pop ups) and it is a clear reflection of diligent effort, there will be questions as to why it took so long. Someone on here suggested they are purposely letting it span two years to have the fans ready for a name, no matter what that name is. If that WAS part of their plan, then kudos it is working. If it wasn't and they go with an obvious one (wolves, wft, sentinels) then they need to explain why it took 2 years.

I hope they have all their ducks in a row, and start doing some "subliminal prepping" so that we can rock the new name asap.

Yeah I don't recall exactly where but I heard an interview of Jason Wright were he half admitted that they were betting on people being more inclined to accept the new name after so much time, and you could almost hear him think "woops, that doesn't work if you say it outloud" :D

At the beginning of all this I think the org was genuinely caught with their pants down and clearly did not have any sort of a contingency plan in place for a name change. A two year process to rebrand a major sports franchise really isn't that unreasonable. Better to take your time and get it right. Imagine if they had immediately gone with Warriors only to continue to face backlash from NA groups.

Not the specific name choice but the rollout, branding/logos, marketing, internet registrations, etc.

I want to believe they are being systematic, dotting their i's and crossing their t's. But how hard would it be to believe that at the end of the process, Snyder steps in and muddies the waters.

The one thing that is true is this name whatever it will be needs to be non-reactive and last the test of current politics and long time quality.

They wobble but they don't fall down.

Agreed. It came out of nowhere. And then all the sleazy revelations from the front office came out as well. Ashburn was suddenly caught in a multi-front war. Better to take their time.

Found it (https://art19.com/shows/washington-football/episodes/19efe866-190b-45c3-9e98-3fb54ae5d007): ITW starts at 3:10, the bit about name change and time effect at 9:54 (listen to the following 3mins, he stirs away from it but at some point he's talking about the longer and the more thorough the process is, the more people can get onboard)
