Thank god I was wrong and kirk has made me eat my crow but it's a delicious crow
It's a week to week league. If KC throws a couple picks and we lose next week, it will be "fire Gruden and who's the top qb in the draft!"

My preseason take on Cousins:
He is a classic Gruden QB. Technically sound but overwhelmingly mediocre. He will look great when things are perfect. When the play call matches the defense, when the primary read is open, when he gets great protection and most importantly, when he is playing with the lead. When any of those break down however, so does he...quickly.
Ask him to perform at a high level over a period of time and you will be disappointed. He is too careless with the ball, too pre-determined with where the ball will go and doesn't rally from adversity well.
If he starts all 16 games, he will probably put up good numbers on paper.. 3200 or so yards, 5 or 6 300 yard games, probably 18-24 TD with 14-18 INT.. The reality however will probably result in a 3-5 win season and fans hoping 'that he can put it all together with a full offseason of being the starter'.
Ultimately Cousins is fools gold.
So looking back at where I was at the beginning of the season and where I am now, Cousins has moved the needle for me. I am no longer of the mindset that he is a backup/fringe starter. I think he's a bonafide starting QB in the category 12-18 range in comparison with his peers. He's not a star but he's also not a weekly liability. Obviously he should be back on a 2-3 year extension and QB isn't at the top of our draft board which is good.
He's protected the ball better than I thought he could, which was a major concern going into the season. He has benefitted from some luck on a few head scratchers (like the late play against the Bears into triple coverage that Jones caught off the deflection) but for the most part he's not been overly careless. He does check the ball down too quickly but hopefully that changes with experience and time in the offense.
This offseason should be good for him to continue to develop & have McCloughan surround him with a better running game and a bigger WR to replace Garcon.
Arrow pointing up.

Being right? I like that! I was on a KC could be the next Drew Brees kick months ago and notice the stats below. After 3 FULL SEASONS as a starter, many thought Brees was a bust, including his own team who went out and drafted Philip Rivers to replace him. Yes, Brees is having a down year by his standards, but KC is ascending and can (should) still get better. He still only has 23 starts under his belt and hasn't had a single off-season and training camp as the undisputed starter.
Drew Brees 3,794 yards 25TDs 11INTs 67%
Cousins 3,625 yards 22TDs 11INTs 69% (also has 5 rushing TDs)
Both have a 97 passer rating.
I think I'll take the next drew brees!

Things sure have changed around here regarding KC lol. In the end it's not about who was right or wrong. It's just good to see stability at the QB position, w/out any week to week drama. It looks like we'll have that for the next several years.

The guy is breaking all kinds of Redskins records and his stats are through the roof and people still hating and not believing??!!
Hope he breaks RG3's rushing TD record too.

Where are you reading hating and not believing??
I've seen several recants on here.
Actually I'd like RG3's rushing TD record to stand as a testament to his true skills.
I'ld love to see RG3 remembered positively for what he did do and released, and for KC to take the reins going forward - which he definitely has done this season.

It's encouraging that Cousins has been able to quickly nip the turnovers in the bud. You have a guy like the "golden child" Luck who hasn't really been able to shake the turnovers but the media has overlooked it time and time again, and contrast that with Kirk who hasn't really been turning the ball over with any regularity in over a month yet the media still always seems to mention "if he can keep the turnovers in check" whenever the subject of Kirk is brought up.

Gruden and McVay really opened up the offense yesterday. Had a lot of longer routes than usual, seem like Jordan was split out more than usual, longer developing plays etc.
You could see the emphasis to get D Jax more touches, I like that.
Seems like more layers were added in the passing attack which just shows more faith in Cousins.

Most fans are not quite as fickle as you think. Nearly all redskins fans now know what we have in KC, Gruden, and SM.

It's never about who was right or wrong, according to those who were wrong.
We still have people here who seem to want Kirk to get down on his knees and **** them before they'll admit that he can play. They're just keeping quiet for now.
