Who is Kirk Cousins?

I am happy to see Cousins improvement over the year. I believe it may have been Joe Theismann who has been preaching that this is really Cousins' "rookie year" meaning his first true season as starting QB. He has yet to have an off-season where he is the guy, and it really has been an uphill battle for him in terms of getting reps / practice, etc..

I think next year might be totally different with Cousins having an entire off-season to prepare as the starter. I am no expert but I believe Cousins can be the franchise QB here. He seems to fire up the players and seems well-liked by his team-mates and all of his coaches, something that RG3 didn't have. Cousins just being on the field seems to get everybody fired up and super competitive. It also doesn't hurt that he is a genuine, down-to earth, good person, who is always supportive of everyone.

One thing I really like about him is how honest he is about his mistakes and shortcomings. He has no problem blaming himself for poor throws, poor plays, etc..

I hope this guy is the QB here for the next 10-12 years....

Looking back at this QB saga, KC has really overcome the odds. He's had to deal with not being drafted as a starter and sitting behind Griffin. Only getting spot starts and was up and down, he got benched last year and was third team. Didn't even dress. What did he do? Made himself better this off season but still had to compete to be the 2. He beats out McCoy and then beats out Griffin as well. He has earned everything the hard way. Nothing was handed to him. Whether you like him or not, you have to respect him and the way he goes about his business.

Kirk Cousins searches for excellence as Washington's starting QB | The MMQB with Peter King (http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/12/01/kirk-cousins-washington-nfl)

Good Read..

Thanks for sharing, that's a great article. It's hard not to like him after seeing him deliver speeches like these:

For me at least, the jury's still out, and will probably be out until the end of the year at minimum. But I think he's definitely made progress from the beginning of the season.

Cousins is going to be a fantastic QB for many years ..the question is will it be in Washington or not. i have been a Cousins supporter for a long time even when he got benched for bad play. He has that calming influence in the huddle ..he is not some head case that will get into trouble with off field antics. This is the first time in many years I have some hope that the Skins are on the right path .

I don't think any of them are actually bible thumpers. They're obviously very religious but I don't see them putting it in your face. Tim Tebow is a bible thumper with an agenda.

I remember one game when Tebow had a mic and he's going around before the game singing about God. Just totally playing to the cameras.

lol, Leributthole

I have also been very disappointed in the backs. Jones has potential but how can you trust him during a key stretch where you're trying to lock up 1st place.

I know this gets away from McCloughan's trenches-first mentality, but the thought has crossed my mind that Leonard Fournette would look great in Burgundy & Gold.

But that's the fan in me speaking, I'd want McCloughan to do what he thinks is right.

I'd love Fournette when he comes out, but the chance of that happening is slim, but I can dream

I for one like true fact that the possible QB of the future of the Redskins is a man of faith. not sure what the negative side of this could possibly be. Remember Joe Gibbs was and still is a man of Great Christian faith.

Yeah that's the key. Religion is like a penis, many people have one but it's not a problem unless you take it out and wave it in everybody's face.

Cousins doesn't put it out there. There was a great long form essay on SI.com yesterday about him, it talks about his upbringing as the son of a pastor, but that's not Cousins advancing any kind of religious agenda, he's simply answering questions about how he was raised.
