punch it in 12-10-2015, 01:04 PM When I say serviceable I mean that it's a QB you can win with, but perhaps not a difference-maker at the position. I don't look at Cousins as a difference maker kind of QB. He is a QB that you could probably interchange out with 8-10 other QB's in the league and the team would likely have the same results based on the team around them.
The Top 4-5 QB's in the league make their teams better. Brady for example makes no names into stars for the few seasons they are catching passes from him. These are the QB's you can't afford to lose. They make a good team great, a great team elite.
Does that help explain it a bit better?
Who are some other qb's in the league u consider interchangeable with cousins? Im curious.

To follow up on Punch's question, what is the average contract of the 8-10 other QBs?

NoCalHail 12-10-2015, 01:35 PM I have no idea about contracts. I am not even factoring in money at this point as I know QB's make a lot of money, often more than their actual worth due to it being the single biggest need on a team.
As far as QB's go, I'd say other than Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Manning (in his prime), Cam (at least the 2016 version), Phillip Rivers, Rothelisburger (at least for a stretch of his career), Eli Manning, most of the rest of the pack other than the bottom feeders like Cassel, *insert Browns QB here*, are interchangeable.
Basically I don't think Cousins is a Top 10 QB, but I also don't think he is a bottom 10. That leaves him in that middle of the pack category and I think a lot of those guys are interchangeable. They can captain the ship but aren't difference makers.

Well according to those stats:
K.Cousins
DYAR Rk YAR Rk DVOA Rk VOA QBR Rk Passes Yards EYds
472 11 500 11 5.4% 14 6.4% 57.7 21 444 2,874 2,937
TD FK FL INT C% DPI
17 2 3 10 68.6% 5/80
Seems like he falls in the 10-15 range. Using Overthecap.com's qb contract numbers that would put him in the 17Mill to 19Mill /year range with a total guarantee somewhere between 25 to 35Mill guaranteed.
htownskinfan 12-10-2015, 01:52 PM It would be deserving for some of you fans for Cousins to land somewhere else and be the pro bowl player I think he can be..I will agree the jury is still out on him so to speak but in spite of the team around him He is playing very well..If you can't see that then you either don't know jack about football or you are a closet RGIII fan ! I asked this question before ..what QB do you think would make the redskins a top notch team now..like next week?? to the folks who don't like Kirk who would you bring in for the rest of the season of you could ..BRADY? ROGERS?NEWTON?Wilson?Brees?Manning?Dalton?Palmer?R yan?..what QB could come in here without a run game with no pass protection bad special teams and a losing culture thats going on a decade..who ?? Cousins is doing all he can do with what he has to work with! as far as the Dallas game IF Romo had not got hurt early in the year the Cowboye would have already clinched the division and most likely have at least 9 wins already..they have the 5th ranked D in the league ..its not like we got beat by a crap team .I bet you the Skins can get at least a number one pick for cousins now..dallas would love them some Cousins..so would a lot of other teams!
Whoa hold on there. Our pass protection has been pretty good this yr,run blocking is a different story.Skins are one of the leaders in fewest sacks given up
30gut 12-10-2015, 01:52 PM ...Anyway I think anytime you draft a player, in this case a qb as you mentioned, that is not going to play anytime soon - when you have SO MANY OTHER NEEDS- it is a reach. When do you think its okay/'not a reach' to draft a QB somewhere in the draft?
I wouldn't worry about it messing with Kirk's head. If Kirk is the QB you think he is, i'm sure he'll be fine.
...When GB took Rodgers, Favre was obviously towards the end of his career and it was a case where a really highly touted qb was inexplicably hanging around.Scrathing my head....
Ruhskins 12-10-2015, 01:53 PM I said "hold colt, and get a veteran to back up KC". I meant collectively. I should have been more clear and said "another veteran" though. My bad. Anyway I think anytime you draft a player, in this case a qb as you mentioned, that is not going to play anytime soon - when you have SO MANY OTHER NEEDS- it is a reach. Also it would maybe mess with KC's head. Where as if we stand pat with Colt and another veteran, KC knows he is the man. When GB took Rodgers, Favre was obviously towards the end of his career and it was a case where a really highly touted qb was inexplicably hanging around.
Personally, I think it is unwise to depend solely on a QB who has been pretty much up and down, even in this year which is so far his best. Drafting a QB in the next two years should not be out of the question IMO. Other than Trent and Kerrigan, I don't think there is anyone else on this roster who is locked in at their position.
Chico23231 12-10-2015, 01:59 PM If McC sees a good QB and it lines up BPA...take him

Up and down? I haven't seen any "down" performances by the Qb in a while. KC has been solid in his first year starting. Great? No. But he has stabilized the position. Drafting a QB early is not the way to go. Get some better players around him, get a 6'4 stud wr, let's get another TE that can actually block and not hold and get PI's. Get a center and maybe another guard that can play right away.
This is how you get better, this is how your offense gets better. And some better playcalling wouldn't hurt either.

Fair enough. I think that middle pack is a little more diverse than you - in other words - are they closer to being a bottom feeder or a difference maker? Imo Kirk is certainly middle of the pack now but i feel he is towards the top of that group. I believe if things are done properly around him over this off season he can be a difference maker.
