Bucket 12-09-2015, 02:01 PM My consistent theme has been that KC has a ceiling and we have seen it. I have also said he is a mid level QB.
Folks want believe KC is going to improve in any substantial way in the future, I disagree.
Folks want believe KC can sustain the TD/INT ratio he has had over the last 5 games. I disagree.
I believe his a mid tier QB.at best. And that's okay.
I think he is our best option for this year and next.

Fair enough. I disagree with all that, but hey. Such is the fan life
SolidSnake84 12-09-2015, 06:41 PM Because 30 games is enough to see a qb's ceiling. Please. 30 games on a pretty poor team. I think a run game, better oline play, and a weapon or two more just might call for a re-check on that ceiling.
Edit : check out drew brees numbers after 30 games. Pretty amazing what happened to that guy after he got some help.
Brees had less td's. More int's. Less yards.
Whether or not cousins ever becomes brees is not the point. It is that 30 games is not enough to call it as you think you see it. There is plenty of ceiling left for Kirk.
I still am in disbelief at the numerous folks that believe Cousins has peaked and this is as good as it gets. Had KC been the starter for those 30 games, that would barely be two seasons as being the unquestioned starter. This is isn't even really his first "True" season as starter. He has always had to play catch up to get the reps, work with the 1st team, etc.
He is 7-12 as a Starter i believe. I would love to see how he does with a whole off-season and training camp where the team is preparing with him being their opening day starter. Get him a good O-Line and some weapons and then judge him after another season or two. I am not a smart football guy by any means but i think 30 games is way, way, too early to say that a guy has peaked and won't get any better.
For god's sake we lived and died by Jason Campbell for four seasons and people on here still were like "he needs more time, he is just starting to get into his groove, etc.""
Cousins should have AT LEAST another full season as the unquestioned starter before he is judged. And that means sticking by him through good and bad. He is going to have games where he throws 4 picks. Just like he is going to have games where he throws 4 TD's. I think the good outweighs the bad with KC, and he should have as bright a future here as anyone....

redskin37 12-09-2015, 07:25 PM I hope the team does not give kc a big fat long term contract.

what type would you offer him? We aren't salary experts - except Schneed - so just a basic idea of what you think would be a right ballpark offer?

Well said. People like to say that KC is a game manager and he is what he is. Blah blah blah. What is this notion that ,"well if we build a team around him he can be ok". Bullshit. Its a damned team sport ofcourse you build it around him. If he was bad or just ok than he would be replaced. "he isnt the type of guy that can carry a team". Bullshit. There aint a qb alive that could have carried this team the last year and a half. Give the man a run game. Give the man some help up front. Give the man a defense that allows him to stay on the field and in rhythm. Give the man the keys and not only will he "drive the car", he will drive it in circles around damn teams. Thank God SM and Jay know this. Because that is exactly wtf they are going to do and alot of y'all can go eat crow.
NoCalHail 12-09-2015, 08:46 PM Cousins is likely going to get 2016 to prove himself. There really isn't a better IMMEDIATE option available.
Something people have to remember is unless your QB is Brady, Manning, Brees, or Rodgers, you are largely going to be dealing with a QB who from a week to week basis can look really good, average, or mediocre. Just take a guy like Eli Manning for example, he has two rings, and has gone on stretches of games where he absolutely looks like one of the best QBs in the league, however when you look at his overall body of work there are a lot of stretches where he looks downright mediocre or at least just average.
In the NFL, you either have a Top 5 QB or you most likely will be required to build a contender around a serviceable QB. That is just a fact of the NFL. There are simply not 15-20 elite caliber QB's to go around.

My problem with Jason Campbell was he played okay but not good enough.... we had two first round picks in 2005....both of those picks were gone by 2010 and 2011...Gibbs could have drafted Aaron Rodgers but he didn't...
punch it in 12-09-2015, 08:57 PM Phillip Rivers would be talked about with those guys....IF....he was on a consistently good team. Brees as I already mentioned got off to a terrible terrible start to his career. Than he got playmakers around him and boom. Eli is a great example. Give him an all worls defense a good oline a good rb and wr's he wins rings. Take it away he is an instant game manager. If not for odb making miraculous one armed catches on poorly thrown balls and Eli would not be jack. Had Russel Wilson been drafted by the Browns or Redskins he might be backing someone up rite now. Its got everything to do with situation.

You are either elite or you are serviceable? No in between? No difference between say Matt Ryan and Brian Hoyer? Big Ben and say Sam Bradford? Maybe im misunderstanding what you mean by serviceable but to me serviceable means a stop gap until you get someone good.
