Bucket 11-25-2015, 01:49 AM Lets be honest, reports mean nothing. Not saying he wont be back, as none of us truly have a clue, but the only way to know is to wait til the offseason and see what happens. If McC chooses to fire him, he is gone regardless of what was said recently. I dont think that decision has been made yet. I suspect McC is going to let the year play out then make a decision in the offseason based on the entire season.
Same guy who called Scot coming to DC before people thought it was an option. Whoever he knows on the inside is usually accurate
One thing people have to remember is we don't even know if Scot is making the call on HC. His title is a bit unique "PLAYERS Personnel "
Could still be a Bruce Allen call which would be a failure

Every year some coaches receive the "vote of confidence". Sometimes the coaches survive sometimes they don't.
The NFL is fluid. A statement about a decision may be true in NOV but inconceivable in JAN. We don't know.
Jay/Cousins fates are in their hands.

Could still be a Bruce Allen call which would be a failureI know during the off-season it seemed like Bruce still had the most clout in the front office. But when you look at actual qualification of a 'true' GM Scott fits the bill much moreso then Bruce.
I have faith, probably misguided given this franchise, that if a decision needs to be made about personnel including coaches Scott's voice will carry the most weight.
KI Skins Fan 11-25-2015, 08:46 AM I don't think Gruden and Barry are incompetent. I just think they are both conservative, perhaps even unimaginative, play callers.
I often wonder what our current offense and defense would look like with better players. If Scot is who we think he is and he improves player personnel significantly over the next two years, perhaps we could run the same plays and be much more successful with them.
I realize that stability means nothing if we have the wrong coaches and executives in place. OTOH, I think stability is very important if we have the right people in place. So, I'd like to see Gruden and Barry get the chance to work with better players.
But if we don't win a road game soon, I might change my mind.

Conservative and unimaginative...doesn't exactly win championships does it?
Gruden is good at making excuses though: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/11/12/the-redskins-are-historically-bad-at-running-the-ball/
pathetic...
Bucket 11-25-2015, 09:26 AM Just to clear the air.
Chico doest like Gruden or Cousins.
That's if you didn't catch on to his constant attacks of the two.
Ok, carry on.

Yeah, the excuse making is not a good look.
I really don't want to see another coaching change right now, but that's up to Gruden and Barry. They may want to play other teams straight up but they obviously don't have the horses to do it. If they don't come up with something right now to improve our run game and stop the opponent's run game, they may both be fired before Scot is able to acquire the horses.
NoCalHail 11-25-2015, 09:45 AM I tend to be more harsh on the head coach because there is more you need than X's & O's to be a head coach. I don't think Gruden has done very well utilizing the teams talent and/or modifying the approach to work with what he has any given week.
Also, I would say it is premature to take any reports seriously since this is a 4-6 team right now who's season still could go either way. We could pull off 2 division wins and be 6-6 with a month of football left, but we could just as well be 4-8 after the next two weeks and another season in the crapper.
If this team goes out and loses the next few games and the floor just falls out from under them completely I would not be confident that Gruden is back next year.

Three of the last four games are good? His first real season at the helm and I see progression halted by one of the best defenses in the league. Also what this article fails to mention is he has done all of this with a piss poor defense and zero run game. For a "rookie" which we can argue about all we want, he is playing quite well all things considered. Certainly worthy of another year where we give him some more help imo.
