WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal will weaken U.S. relationships around the world and create problems that U.S. foreign policy will be grappling with for years, but it’s also a boon for the U.S. rival that American intelligence said helped Trump get elected: Russia.
Trump’s move will likely lead toward progress on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two chief goals: splintering the U.S.-led alliance of democratic powers that currently dominates global affairs and fortifying Russia’s alternative network, which includes Iran and its partners across the Middle East.
A split between the U.S. and its three most powerful allies — France, Germany and the U.K. — was clear immediately after Trump’s announcement. The leaders of the latter three countries issued a joint statement expressing “regret and concern” and saying they want to sustain the Iran agreement, which promised Iran some freedom from international sanctions in exchange for limits on and guarantees of transparency about its nuclear development. They reiterated what Trump’s own military advisers and new secretary of state have said: Iran is abiding by the deal./news/trump-apos-iran-deal-exit-005741772.html
punch it in 05-09-2018, 05:59 PM How about the fact that two of these three prisoners were all arrested while Trump was spouting off at the pie hole and enraging Jong-un ? If I were one of them Id smack him right in his face when I got off the plane. Unreal. Dude throws a temper tantrum so Jong-un arrests three Americans and puts them through hell before returning them. And you guys want to give him the Nobel Peace Prize. Are you fucking kidding me?

mooby 05-09-2018, 06:47 PM Cred, I am happy to give Trump partial credit for getting 3 Americans released from NK and peace talks advanced (but don't go giving him full credit, China/SK also deserve some) but at the same time, why don't we talk about the Iran deal and what specifically Trump has a problem with? In the last year gas prices in Woodbridge have gone from 2.20/gal to 2.80/gal, and this is just the precursor to even higher prices once summer rolls around and the shit pops off because we left the Iran deal. Now I know, who gives a shit about gas prices? I do, because I drive a lot. The raise in prices is only going to cut into the bump I got from the tax reform bill (which I'm not sure I got at all because the salary bump I got supposedly bumped me into the next tax bracket).
Now I don't know much, but I do know this. When my cost of living goes up as a direct result of his policies, it offsets however happy I am that peace in Korea finally seems feasible. I'm happy the 3 Americans are coming home too, but don't have much sympathy for them because everybody with half a brain knew it was a dangerous proposition visiting NK in any capacity as an American while hostilities were being thrown around.
And unless Trump starts spouting specifics about why the Iran deal is bad, I am happy to believe he only wanted out because it was an Obama deal. When everybody (including your own intelligence) says Iran was complying with the deal, I see no reason to back out. Now we can look forward to Iran bailing on the agreement too and all the negative reactions that will happen as a result of that.
CRedskinsRule 05-09-2018, 07:26 PM Like it or not, he ran, and won on getting out of the Iran deal. Gas always goes up during this time of the year due to the refineries changing blends, (and when the Republican candidate won, I told my friends we were headed back to the $4 gas days because that's what Republicans do. The shale/fracking industries needs higher gas prices) My company lives off of drivers driving, so yeah it sucks, but it was a lock when the Republicans won, regardless of the Iran deal.
Personally, I've always felt the US was strongest when it leads, and not was lead by the Europeans. I have a strong German background, but the Europeans as a continent are a weak ass people. They have lived under US umbrella for so long that they have forgotten why it was necessary in the first place, and when you get a president like Carter, and Obama who are social change creatures, the European socialists pounce, and bad treaties happen.
Here is a coherent discussion with a VOX (liberal media) reporter and Richard Goldberg, a supporter of ending the deal.
